Jotspot Gets Reincarnated as Google Sites from News.com

Jotspot Wait List

I was catching up on some news today and came across this article from C|net News that talks about jotspot getting reincarnated as Google Sites.

Jotspot Reincarnated as Google Sites

I had seen a little bit about jotspot before but hadn’t thought too much about it. But it’s interesting because after reading the article at news.com it looks like Google is trying to really push the envelope with collaborative tools.

I’ve been testing google for your domain and google apps for some time now. The main things that I like about it is the ability to share documents and collaborate. But jotspot or should I say “Google Sites” looks like it’ll push the envelope and help move the collaborative process even further along.

Jotspot was supposed to be a wiki for non-techies that adds web 2.0 components and really helps move the collaborative process along. I haven’t used it yet so can’t really comment, but I did sign up to be on the notification list when they open up the beta some more.

You can read more about jotspot in a review from ZDnet here it looks like very exciting stuff. I’ll write up a nice review once I get access to it.

If you’re not familiar with wiki’s, they’re user collaborated content. Probably the most famous one is Wikipedia. The free encyclopedia that is available in multiple languages and is all user generated content. Some sites that allow you to create your own wiki are Ning, pbwiki, twiki. Of those I am currently doing some testing with Ning.

I’ll keep you posted. If any of you have access to jotspot and can send invites I’d be interested in testing it out.
