Online Marketer of The Year

May 1st, 2007 · No Comments · Updates

So, Russell Brunson created this idea of having an Online Marketer of the Year competition. The speakers actually do webinars for about an hour to 90 minutes. It’s a fairly interesting concept and has many of the top Internet Marketers competing with each other.

The criteria that he’s using is # of opt-ins / votes for that particular marketer. There are over 49 marketers both online and offline. Some of the marketers are Dan Kennedy, Joe Sugarman, Robert Allen, Yanik Silver, Stephen Pierce, Mike Filsaime, Joshua Shafran, Rich Schefren, Tellman Knudson and many more.

The idea or concept is a bit similar to what Tellman did with Marketers Deathmatch, where Tellman pitted two marketers against each other over 1 hour to give their best content. They’d get rated by # of opt-ins, # of sales, and # of votes for their content. However, Russell put some new spins on the process by offering webinars.

Some of the presentations may be people sharing their desktop, while others are presentations just like that particular presenter would give at a live event.

So far I’ve listened and “watched” the webinars from Russell Brunson, Gary Ambrose, and Rich Schefren. All three had excellent content.

Russell mapped out a plan to have 6 figures in 7 minutes a day. He shared his desktop and put you in touch with the tools and resources that he used to build his business while he was a full time student, wrestling and had to squeeze money making into 14 to 30 minute sessions between class in the computer lab.

I enjoyed the webinar, and Russell didn’t hold back.

Gary gave a presentation about building quality lists. The basic premise was that building a large list wasn’t good enough. You need to build a list of quality list, a list of buyers. He had developed his nickel mania script and has used it over and over again to generate a list of buyers that are worth much more than a nickel. It was a specially designed promotion to coincide with the launch of Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing. Very good stuff, because he built a list not through joint ventures (read people on multiple lists getting hit by the same emails and jv offerse). He built his own list outside of jv’s and internet marketing where he was the sole player and provider of IM content.

He smashed the competition and won the Rolex watch for being the top affiliate for Butterfly Marketing.

Rich Schefren discussed effectiveness and focus. My biggest take away was how to be more effective. By taking more action, but how do we take more action. By getting into the zone and working as effectively as possible.

Rich’s suggestion of adding more playtime was interesting and a bit counterintuitive but after he finished explaining it, I thought it was quite brilliant. Monitor your time, peel back the time to core effectiveness and train yourself to be more effective. Then re-add the time.

What an interesting concept.

The other big idea that Rich spoke about was focus. It has been a major struggle for me as well I’m sure for man of you as well. There are just so many things to distract us. We definitely have way more things to do, watch, observe and see than time in a day.

I’ll keep you updated on the upcoming webinars.

Great stuff, and again.

Go check it out, it’s free and very good.
