I just started reading Michael Gerber’s E-Myth Mastery. I’m working on a couple other books as well, but picked this up because of all the great things I had heard about E-Myth and this latest iteration came highly recommended by some friends of mine.
It has been quite an interesting read so far.
I just finished reading through “Part One, The E-Myth Entrepreneur”. The book is broken into two main parts Part One discusses the mindset for becoming an entrepreneur and the second part discusses the Seven Essential disciplines as outlined by Gerber.
One of the very unique points of this first part for me was to create a World Class Company. It had never occurred to me that I should be working on or trying to build a World Class Company. I had always thought of just creating a company to make money, and provide me with some freedom and a decent lifestyle.
This was a totally unique idea to me because it had never entered my consciousness that I would want to be creating a World Class Company. me? create a world class company. It’s tough enough right now transitioning from a one man army to outsourcing and looking for team members and outsourcers. How can I build a world class company? Who am I to think I can build a World Class Company?
But the thing is, after reading through Gerber’s book (so far that is). It occurred to me that yes I can build a World Class Company. I should be working on building a World Class Company. Why, you might ask? Well, it’s pretty simple because it doesn’t take that much more work to build a World Class Company vs a mediocre company. But the results for the entrepreneur and business owner are substantial. Gerber sites an example of Sam Walton and Peggy Diner. 30 years later Sam Walton had Wal-Mart and 30 years later Peggy still has a Diner where she’s doing it and doing it.
It’s really about using your energy, time and resources in the most efficient manner possible. If I’m going to be doing all of the work to build up a company and business, why build a mediocre one when I can build a world Class one? So I will be working on building my World Class Company. Will You?
